Special Education Teacher (Leave Replacement)

Spokane International Academy (SIA) is seeking a full-time Special Education Teacher (Leave Replacement) to serve students in grades 7-12 from August through November 2026. This position provides specially designed instruction, case management, and collaborative support to ensure students with disabilities have access to rigorous academic opportunities and meaningful growth. SIA is a rigorous K-12 public charter school that empowers students with strong academic skills, essential habits for success, and the global competence needed to excel in advanced coursework and become transformative leaders in their communities.

Primary Responsibilities
Special Education Services
- Provide specially designed instruction (SDI) aligned with student IEPs.
- Deliver services in individual, small-group, and inclusive classroom settings.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction based on data and student needs.
- Support students with academic, behavioral, executive functioning, and transition-related goals.
Case Management & Compliance
- Serve as case manager for assigned students.
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs in compliance with IDEA and Washington State regulations.
- Facilitate IEP meetings and collaborate with families, staff, and service providers.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation within IEP Online, including progress monitoring, service tracking, and compliance timelines.
- Ensure accommodations, modifications, and services are implemented consistently.
Collaboration & Student Support
- Partner with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and student success.
- Collaborate with instructional assistants, counselors, administrators, and related service providers.
- Implement behavior support plans and utilize positive, trauma-informed approaches to student support.
Professional Responsibilities
- Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional and ethical standards.
- Contribute positively to SIA's collaborative school culture.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Valid Washington State Special Education Teaching Certificate.
- Experience working with middle and/or high school students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Special Education or related field.
- Experience serving students in grades Kindergarten-12th grade.
- Familiarity with IEP Online or similar special education management systems.
- Experience in a charter school or innovative educational setting.
