    Job Description Summary

    We have an opening for a Specialist Paralegal (Real Estate).

    The Specialist Paralegal (Real Estate) applies knowledge of real estate processes and its associated procedures to provide fundamental assistance to lawyers.

    Job Description

    In this capacity, the Specialist Paralegal (Real Estate) will:

    • Perform work in an efficient and cost-effective manner so as to permit the Firm to reasonably collect fees for such work;

    • Meet expectations of billable hours target of 1,725 (unless otherwise specified);

    • Review and summarize title commitments and underlying exception documents; identify problematic exceptions, liens, easements, and encumbrances for further review;

    • Coordinate with title companies regarding issuance of title commitments, loan and owner proformas, and final title policies;

    • Draft title objection notices and assist attorneys in communicating curative requirements;

    • Order, track, and review ALTA/NSPS land title surveys for accuracy, completeness, and consistency with the ALTA/NSPS survey standards;

    • Analyze surveys for encroachments, access points, easements, and other site control matters;

    • Review legal descriptions for inclusion in real estate instruments, including mortgages to be recorded, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and alignment with title and survey data;

    • Coordinate with surveyors and title officers to confirm legal description correctness and resolve inconsistencies;

    • Abstract key terms from real estate documents, including easements, leases, declarations, and reciprocal easement agreements (REAs);

    • Organize, manage, and maintain due diligence materials and related document databases;

    • Communicate directly with title companies, surveyors, and other third-party vendors regarding document delivery, corrections, and technical clarifications;

    • Assist attorneys in preparing title, survey and zoning analysis reports for internal and/or client-facing use;

    • Assist with closings by preparing and finalizing transactional and legal documents, creating closing binders, updating closing checklists, tracking status updates, preparing signature page packets and coordinating signature pages from various parties;

    • Order and review lien searches and corporate organizational documents;

    • Draft and file UCC financing statements;

    • Partner and coordinate with internal resources and outside vendor services as needed;

    • Direct work and train team members accordingly;

    • Coordinate with other areas/departments of the Firm where overlap exists to develop efficient procedures/communications to streamline processes and satisfy various department needs;

    • Work overtime as required; travel as required, and

    • Handle additional related projects as assigned.

    Proficiencies:

    • Advanced proficiency in MS Outlook and web-based conference call/web-sharing applications;

    • Advanced proficiency in MS Word and document editing/comparison applications;

    • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and spreadsheet/database applications;

    • Advanced proficiency in MS PowerPoint and presentation applications;

    • Advanced proficiency with timekeeping and expense reporting applications; and

    • Strong knowledge of legal billing processes.

    Qualifications:

    • At least 10 years of relevant commercial real estate experience (required);

    • At least 10 years of real estate paralegal experience (required); and

    • Bachelor’s Degree (required).

    The salary wage range for New York that we expect to pay for this position is a minimum of $116,000and a maximum of $170,000 annually. The actual pay wage may vary based on experience or other relevant factors.
