Job Details:

Title: Speech Language Pathologist Department: Otolaryngology

Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathologist provides inpatient and outpatient diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients with voice, swallowing, and communication disorders, with a primary focus on ENT-related care and Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies. Working closely with ENT, Physical Therapy, Neurology and Radiology, this role supports patients with dysphagia, head and neck cancer, and tracheostomy/laryngectomy needs, and contributes to the Aerodigestive Team.

Responsibilities:

• Performs outpatient Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies in collaboration with Physical Therapy, Radiology and ENT.
• Conducts clinical swallow evaluations, FEES, and dysphagia therapy.
• Provides pre- and post-operative care in the inpatient and outpatient setting for head and neck cancer patients, including prophylactic swallowing exercises and voice rehabilitation.
• Manages tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients, including stoma care, speaking valve fitting, and TEP/electrolarynx training.
• Collaborates with the Aerodigestive Team on complex airway and swallowing cases.
• Develops individualized treatment plans and maintains accurate, timely clinical documentation.
• Coordinates with ENT, Radiology, Neurology and referring providers to support continuity of care and efficient scheduling.
• Manages a high-volume, complex outpatient caseload and may assist in clinical training of Speech-Language Pathology students.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in the diagnostic and treatment of voice and swallowing disorders, including outpatient Modified Barium Swallow (MBS) studies. Solid experience with instrumental evaluations of swallowing and voice - Videofluoroscopy, FEES, Videostroboscopy. Knowledgeable in tracheoesophageal voice prosthesis (TEP) training and tracheostomy/laryngectomy management. Must have head & neck cancer experience.

Education:

Masters degree in Speech Pathology plus one year fellowship, required.

Licenses / Certifications:

New York State Licensure in Speech Pathology, required. Certificate of Clinical Competency(CCC) awarded by the American Speech Language Hearing Association, required.

Special Requirements: Physical Requirements: Light Work (involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds; requires moderate mobility to different work locations)
