Responsibilities:

THE ROLE:

 

The Legal Department is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join the team supporting AMD’s Datacenter Solutions Group (DSG).  This attorney will serve as a practical, business-oriented legal partner to DSG’s engineering, product, and business development teams in support of AMD’s datacenter related products (including datacenter CPUs, GPU accelerators, network solutions, and related software, and tools).  The role will advise on product development and commercialization, structure and negotiate complex technology, licensing, supply, collaboration, and customer agreements, counsel on intellectual property, open-source software, compliance, and contractual risk, and help resolve disputes and other issues affecting DSG’s datacenter hardware, software, and solutions.

 

This role can be located in Austin or San Jose.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Serve as a trusted legal advisor to DSG engineering, product, sales, marketing, and business development teams, providing practical guidance that balances legal risk with business and technical objectives.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial and technology agreements relating to DSG products and solutions, including customer, supply, licensing, development, evaluation, services, and strategic collaboration agreements.
• Advise on product development and commercialization matters involving intellectual property, software and data rights, open-source software, confidentiality, warranties, compliance, risk allocation, and dispute resolution.
• Lead and coordinate negotiations with internal stakeholders across engineering, sales, finance, operations, compliance, and other functions, and escalate significant legal or business risks as appropriate.
• Support strategic customer and partner engagements involving datacenter CPUs, GPU accelerators, networking solutions, software, tools, and integrated systems.
• Help prevent and resolve contractual, product, and commercial disputes, and advise clients on interpretation of existing agreements and available remedies.
• Develop templates, playbooks, guidance, and training that improve contracting efficiency, promote consistent legal positions, and support compliance with company policies.
• Monitor emerging legal and regulatory issues affecting datacenter, AI, semiconductor, hardware, and software products, and translate those developments into practical guidance for the business.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

 

• Demonstrated experience as a practicing attorney, with both law firm and in-house experience preferred.
• Experience in commercial transactions, intellectual property law.
• Experience in the computing or semiconductor industry is a plus.

 

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

 

• A JD degree and admission to practice law in a U.S. state.
