Job Description

When you're part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll do daring work, and join a team that values performance, quality and innovation. As part of a successful, growing global organization you will be encouraged to perform at your best. With revenues of more than $40 billion and the largest investment in R&D in the industry, we give our people the resources and chances to create significant contributions to the world.

Senior Director, IT M&A Integration

The IT Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team partners closely with Corporate Development and the Integration Management Office (IMO) to lead technology due diligence, integration strategy, and full life-cycle delivery of IT integration for mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures across Thermo Fisher Scientific. The team also establishes IT process governance, strategy development, standard methodologies, and portfolio management practices for M&A activity across Global IT.

As Senior Director, IT M&A Integration, you will serve as the senior IT leader fully accountable for the strategy, execution, and successful delivery of IT integration for new acquisitions. You will maintain a dual reporting and governance relationship with IT leadership and the Integration Management Office (IMO), owning the IT M&A portfolio end-to-end - from due diligence through full integration - including the financial management needed to support it. You will apply Practical Process Improvement (PPI) to continuously strengthen our integration methodology and partner with IT functional and business leaders to ensure robust, repeatable processes for system integrations.

The key responsibility of this role is to fully own the end-to-end success of IT integration for new acquisitions across Thermo Fisher - from due diligence through complete integration - while managing the overall IT M&A portfolio, including its financials, by applying Thermo Fisher standard methodologies and our project management framework.

How you will make an impact:

In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for the IT M&A function, maintaining a dual reporting relationship with IT leadership and the Integration Management Office (IMO) to ensure IT integration strategy is fully aligned with enterprise deal objectives and the broader M&A portfolio.

You will be fully responsible for leading IT through the entire acquisition life cycle - due diligence, Day 1 readiness, Transition Service Agreement (TSA) management, and full integration - partnering closely with Corporate Development, the IMO, IT Shared Services, and Group IT to deliver integration across infrastructure, business applications, architecture, cybersecurity, data, and employee experience work streams.

You will own the financial management of the IT M&A portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, actual-vs-plan tracking, and synergy realization, ensuring full reporting and visibility to IT leadership and key stakeholders throughout each integration.

You will build, lead, and develop a team of IT integration program and project managers, and you will drive efficiency and effectiveness across multiple concurrent integration programs in support of business growth objectives.

You will be eligible for company benefits that include bonus, ESPP, 401k, healthcare, employee assistance program, paid time off, and more!

What you will do:

  • Serve as the senior IT leader fully accountable for the end-to-end success of IT integration for new acquisitions, from due diligence through complete integration into Thermo Fisher's systems, processes, and controls
  • Maintain a dual reporting relationship with IT leadership and the Integration Management Office (IMO), ensuring IT integration strategy and execution remain fully aligned with deal objectives and the enterprise M&A portfolio
  • Lead IT due diligence for prospective acquisitions, partnering with Corporate Development to assess technology risk, system compatibility, licensing exposure, cybersecurity posture, and integration cost and complexity
  • Own and manage the IT M&A portfolio, including budgeting, forecasting, actual-vs-plan financial tracking, and synergy/cost-savings realization, providing full transparency and reporting to IT and executive leadership
  • Partner closely with IT Shared Services, Group IT, Corporate Development, and the IMO to plan and execute integration activities across infrastructure, business applications, architecture, cybersecurity, data, and employee experience work streams
  • Lead the negotiation and ongoing management of Transition Service Agreements (TSAs), ensuring contractual IT obligations are met and risk is actively managed through transition periods
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team of IT M&A program and project managers, developing functional capability, tools, and staffing to scale delivery across multiple concurrent integrations
  • Establish governance structures, reporting cadences, and executive dashboards that provide IT leadership full visibility into integration status, risks, milestones, and financials
  • Develop and continuously improve IT M&A playbooks, standard methodologies, and the project management framework, applying Practical Process Improvement (PPI) principles
  • Lead change management and communications planning for stakeholders across acquired and existing business units to support smooth, low-disruption transitions
  • Represent IT in pre- and post-close deal forums, providing integration cost estimates, risk assessments, and delivery timelines to deal teams and senior executives
  • Champion and develop strong working relationships with business stakeholders, system users, and company personnel across the organization
