Working at Target means the opportunity to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Caring for our communities is woven into who we are, and we invest in the places we collectively live, work and play. We prioritize relationships, fuel and develop talent by creating growth opportunities, and succeed as one Target team. At our core, our purpose is ingrained in who we are, what we value, and how we work. It's how we care, grow, and win together.

A role in Finance Capabilities means partnering with Finance, Technology, and analytics leaders to co-create solutions that maximizes business value and enables key strategies that are critical to the enterprise and for the experiences we create for our guests.  Truly an owner and expert of your data solutions and underlying processes, you will set the vision, align on the roadmap and mobilize your team and partner teams to deliver needed outcomes. Given most strategies have a Finance impact, you will also serve as a trusted resource to guide other enterprise partners in their solutions to ensure the success and integrity of end-to-end deliverables.

Product Teams at Target are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology, discovery and design work.

About the job:

As a Senior Product Manager, Finance you will own the vision, strategy, roadmap, and backlog for a portfolio of Finance data products supporting Finance Modernization. Your portfolio will include the Modern P&L, foundational Finance datasets, and data products needed to enable modern operational reporting and analytics. You will deeply understand Finance stakeholder needs and business processes, translating them into clear product outcomes and making prioritization and trade-off decisions based on business value, dependencies, and available capacity.

A significant focus of this role will be leading product discovery and definition for the Modern P&L, a new capability intended to provide a fully burdened view of profitability at the category and channel level through Operating Income. You will partner across Finance to understand how the business evaluates performance, define the decisions and use cases the product must support, identify required data and capabilities, and establish a sequenced roadmap that delivers value iteratively.

You will also own and influence Finance data products that form the foundation for broader Finance Modernization. This includes partnering with Finance application Product Managers and engineers to define Bronze, Silver, and consumption data needs from transactional applications such as MatchIQ, Partem, and Plutus, as well as data required by downstream Finance reporting and analytics. You will ensure these needs are approached as durable, reusable data products, rather than one-time data deliveries designed around a single report or project.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will work in the product model and will partner to develop a comprehensive product strategy, related roadmap, and set key business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product. You will need to leverage the knowledge of your product, as well as customer feedback and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product. You will lead a product and work in unison with engineers, UX designers, data scientists and business partners to deliver a product.

You will be the "voice of the product" to key stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met, and that the product team is getting the direction and support that it needs to be successful. You will develop and actively understand the market, maintain a product roadmap and backlog outlining the customer themes, epics, and stories while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders.

You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction. You will foster a sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with product teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours.

Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:

  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 6+ years financial data Product Management experience
  • Demonstrated strength in product strategy, discovery, roadmap development, prioritization, and backlog management, with the ability to distinguish customer needs from requested solutions
  • Experience working with data products, analytical platforms, data engineering, business intelligence, or related technology, with enough technical fluency to partner effectively with engineers and understand data dependencies and architectural trade-offs
  • Strong curiosity and ability to quickly learn complex business and Finance concepts, ask effective questions, connect business processes to data, and help technical partners understand the business context behind their work
  • Experience translating ambiguous stakeholder needs into clear product outcomes, requirements, priorities, and iterative delivery plans
  • Ability to make and communicate difficult trade-off and prioritization decisions across competing customer needs, dependencies, business value, and capacity
  • Experience working in an agile product environment and leading a body of work across cross-functional teams without relying on direct authority
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to communicate product strategy, roadmaps, decisions, and complex concepts to both business and technical audiences
