Position Purpose

The Staff Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end close procedures. A successful Staff Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. Staff Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all of our accounting tasks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs general accounting and other related duties in the accounting department
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
  • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
  • Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
  • Provide technical support and advice on Management Accountant
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
  • Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process
  • Provide input into department's goal setting process
  • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns
  • Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
  • Support month-end and year-end close process.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
  • Assists with month end close and board report preparation
  • Maintains the general ledger, including account reconciliations
  • Monitors Accounts Payable and Purchasing ensuring proper coding
  • Process direct deposit payments
  • Calculate and deposit payroll taxes
  • Process and issue annual W-2 forms to employees
  • Properly code payroll within the general ledger
  • Assists with payroll coding and recoding throughout the year

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline required and / or
  • 3+ years of accounting experience required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software; experience with Abila, is preferred
  • Ability to accept assignments, follow procedures and work without constant supervision
  • Must have the ability to deal with people in a professional manner
  • Must be able to maintain complete confidentiality
  • In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
