Your responsibilities will be centered on foundational transactional accounting, account reconciliation, and essential support for the monthly close process and compliance efforts. These activities are crucial for maintaining the integrity of our financial records under US GAAP, client reports and preparing data for Tax compliance and filings.What you'll doPrepare and post routine journal entries, ensuring they are properly documented and adhere to established US GAAP policiesExecute bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely mannerComplete monthly balance sheet account reconciliations (e.g., prepaids, accrued expenses, and certain intercompany accounts)Assist with the maintenance of the fixed asset subledger, recording additions, transfers, and disposalsAssist the AP function by entering vendor invoices, verifying proper approval, and reconciling vendor statementsDetermining month end accruals with heightened focus on significant vendorsPreparing monthly financial statements for Real Estate Partners in accordance with contractual agreementsPrepare basic accruals and schedules to assist with complex close proceduresComplete indirect tax filingsSupport the Tax team by gathering data for various tax filings, ensuring alignment with Tax Code requirementsWhat we're looking forBachelor's degree in Accounting with a working knowledge of accountingRecent college graduate or accountant with 1+ years of professional accounting experience and a CPA candidateExhibit a proactive desire to rapidly acquire accounting experience, translating learning and real-world experience directly into operational accounting tasks and process improvementStrong communication skills with ability to engage across multiple functionsExceptional attention to detail and accuracy in high-volume processesStrong analytical skills and collaborative team approachInterest in leveraging technology and AI tools to streamline accounting processesThe anticipated base salary for this position is $70,000.00 USD to $80,000.00 USD annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment. Base salary is one component of Metropolis' total compensation package, which may also include access to or eligibility for healthcare benefits, a 401(k) plan, short-term and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, a lucrative stock option plan, bonus plans and more.Metropolis values in-person collaboration to drive innovation, strengthen culture, and enhance the Member experience.
