Role Purpose

The Staff Accountant II supports the financial operations of the manufacturing plant by ensuring accurate accounting records, cost tracking, and timely financial reporting. This role plays a key part in month-end close, inventory accounting, accounts payable, and compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Scope & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
• Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations as part of the monthly close process
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including inventory, fixed assets, and cost accounts
• Support cost accounting activities such as standard costing, variance analysis, and bill of materials reviews
• Assist with inventory valuation, cycle counts, and physical inventory processes
• Prepare supporting schedules for internal and external audits
• Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and plant leadership to ensure accurate financial data
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to accounting processes and controls
• Communicate professionally and work cooperatively with colleagues across departments
• Perform cost accounting functions including inventory control, inventory valuation, inventory adjustment, and standard cost variance analysis
• Prepare reports, financial analysis, and assist in special projects
• Perform other duties as assigned

Accounts Payable Responsibilities
• Perform assigned duties in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions
• Process vendor invoices, including three-way matching of purchase orders, receiving documents, and invoices
• Ensure timely and accurate payment of vendors in accordance with agreed-upon terms
• Resolve invoice discrepancies and communicate with vendors and internal departments as needed
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records and vendor master data in ERP systems
• Reconcile accounts payable sub-ledgers to the general ledger
• Support month-end close activities, including accruals and account reconciliations
• Assist with expense report processing and credit card reconciliations, as applicable
• Support audits by providing accounts payable documentation and reports
• Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and applicable regulatory requirements
• Review and accrue use tax
• Communicate professionally with co-workers and work cooperatively with colleagues across departments

Work Experience & Skills

Education:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Experience:
• 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment
• Skills / Knowledge:
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close
• Working knowledge of cost accounting and inventory accounting principles
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard accounting software
• Familiarity with internal controls and audit support
