POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Staff Accountant / Office Administrator to join our Chicago office. This is a unique hybrid role that blends core accounting responsibilities with operational and administrative support functions. The right candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in an independent work environment, as much of our team is distributed remotely across the country. You will serve as the essential on-site anchor for our operations, ensuring day-to-day financial and office functions run smoothly.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAccounting & FinanceAssist the Senior Accountant with day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activitiesProcess accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on timeSupport financial reporting, variance analysis, and audit preparation as directedAssist with payroll administrative tasks, including data entry, expense review, and coordination with payroll provider.Maintain organized and compliant financial records and documentationTechnology & IT AdministrationManage new hire laptop deployment with the I.T. technician and shipping/coordination with remote staff.Serve as the first point of contact for basic in-office technology needs and vendor coordinationMaintain inventory of IT equipment and office supplies with our I.T. vendor.Office & Administrative SupportPerform general office management dutiesCoordinate mail, deliveries, and vendor relationships as neededAssist with onboarding logistics for new employees; we expect to hire 10 in the coming year.Support leadership and remote team members with ad hoc administrative requestsRequirementsRequiredBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.Minimum 2 years of office experience, preferably with accounting or finance exposureStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office SuiteSolid understanding of basic accounting principles (debits, credits, reconciliations)Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervisionProfessional, reliable, and comfortable being the primary in-office presence for a remote-first companyPreferredExperience with payroll processing or payroll software.
