Portland, OR, USSalary Range: $23.00 To $25.00 AnnuallyAbout the RoleThe Staff Accountant for Made in Oregon plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and accuracy of the retail organization's accounting records. This position is responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The Staff Accountant will manage bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger activities to provide accurate financial data for decision-making. By performing detailed account reconciliations and job costing, this role helps identify discrepancies and supports operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Staff Accountant contributes to the overall financial health of the company by ensuring timely and precise accounting operations within the retail trade environment.This is a On-Site Part-Time Position (1-2 days a week)Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Proven experience in bank reconciliation and general ledger accounting.Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.Preferred QualificationsExperience in the retail trade industry or a similar fast-paced environment.Familiarity with job costing and inventory accounting processes.Knowledge of ERP systems commonly used in retail accounting.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.ResponsibilitiesPerform daily bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of cash balances.Prepare and post journal entries related to various accounting transactions.Maintain and reconcile the general ledger accounts, including balance sheet accounts.Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies to ensure accurate financial reporting.Support month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary schedules and documentation.Assist with job costing and inventory accounting to track retail operations expenses.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial data and support audits.Ensure compliance with established accounting principles and company policies.SkillsThe Staff Accountant will utilize bank reconciliation skills daily to verify cash balances and ensure accuracy in financial records. A solid grasp of accounting principles guides the preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring compliance and precision. Analytical skills are essential for investigating account discrepancies and supporting detailed account reconciliations. Proficiency in general ledger management and job costing enables the accountant to track expenses and support operational budgeting effectively.
