Staff Accountant 
Location: San Antonio, TX (Must reside in San Antonio)
Work Model: Hybrid – Monday–Thursday Onsite
Training: 100% Onsite for first 1–2 months
Compensation:
  • Salary: $60,000 - $65,000 (based on experience)
  • Hourly (for contract candidates): $25 – $33/hour

Position Summary

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking two experienced Staff Accountants for contract-to-hire and direct hire opportunities in San Antonio, TX.

We are looking for a well-rounded Accountant with strong GAAP knowledge, hands-on month-end close experience, and solid ERP accounting software proficiency. The ideal candidate thrives in a dynamic environment, takes ownership of their work, and is passionate about process improvement and operational efficiency.

This position requires working onsite Monday–Thursday after completing fully onsite training.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close and Financial Reporting

  • Support and execute the month-end close process

  • Prepare and post journal entries (routine and non-routine)

  • Perform account reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Conduct flux analysis

  • Prepare and manage monthly accruals

  • Manage prepaid schedules

  • Complete cash reconciliations for assigned entities

  • Maintain assigned balance sheet accounts and supporting schedules

  • Prepare revenue, receivables, accrual, reclass, and eliminating journal entries

  • Support intercompany accounting and eliminations

Audit and Compliance

  • Prepare audit support and internal schedules for annual reviews and external audits

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)

  • Document accounting processes and internal controls

  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with client-specific reporting or billing as needed

  • Support ad hoc financial analyses and special projects

  • Maintain flexibility to meet business needs, including occasional overtime

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS in Accounting or Finance (Required – Non-Negotiable)

  • Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience with significant accounting responsibilities

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP

  • Experience with month-end close

  • Experience with ERP accounting software (Sage Intacct preferred)

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas required)

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Must reside in San Antonio, TX

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage Intacct

  • Experience in growing or dynamic organizations

  • Exposure to process improvement initiatives
