Description
*Multiple options in the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast
*Must have structural steel erecting experience with commercial and industrial steel projects
*Must be able to travel regionally on the East Coast
*Non-Union, Compensation is negotiable
Structural steel field superintendent directs on-site steel erection, manages field labor and equipment, and enforces safety rules. Key duties include overseeing daily installation, managing crane and rigging logistics, and maintaining quality control.
Core Responsibilities
Field Operations: Direct structural steel assembly, rigging, fit-up, bolting, welding, and field modifications.
Safety Management: Enforce OSHA compliance, conduct safety meetings, and inspect heavy equipment like cranes.
Schedule & Coordination: Track look-ahead schedules and sequence column, beam, and joist deliveries with project managers.
Quality Control: Verify that welding and structural installations match engineering drawings and project specifications.
Crew Supervision: Manage ironworkers, field welders, and sub-trade labor performance.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: 5+ years in structural steel erection or heavy industrial construction, with prior supervisory experience.
