Job Description Summary
Working with the Grand Challenges Initiative is a great way to get involved with the campus community. We are looking for a new student assistant to join our team to provide general admin/office support.
The position offers up to 5 hours per week for the entire Fall 2026 semester, with the potential to continue into future semesters.
Responsibilities
Support with 4-5 events in the semester. Dates and times TBD.
Administrative support as needed (marketing, event planning, data tracking, expense tracking, etc.)
May also need occasional support in the GCI Makerspace Lab (Hashinger SC 427) with inventory tracking
Required Qualifications
Little to minimal prior experience. Ability to learn support process. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired Qualifications
Desired qualifications include (but are not limited to):
Sophomore or Junior level
Flexible availability for multiple events throughout the semester.
Especially the GCI Showcases in Fall or Spring, the last Friday of
the classes from 11 am to 1 pm
Interest in marketing, events, blog-writing, photography (experience
not required)
Problem-solving skills
Experience in the GCI program (GCI 250 students are also welcome
to apply!)
