The Tomah Area School District is accepting applications for substitute teachers. Substitute teachers play a valuable role in the education of our students. Subs provide students with an opportunity to learn and grow despite the absence of their regular teacher.
Certified teachers or college graduates with non-teacher degrees (associate degree, bachelor degree or higher) are encouraged to apply.
New Effective 8/1/2018: A Three-Year Short-Term Substitute License may be issued to an applicant who holds an associate degree or higher from an accredited college or university AND who has successfully completed an approved substitute training program, but has not completed a state-approved educator preparation program.
Prerequisite Substitute Teacher Training: Complete stedi.org online training course. Initial cost of this training is the responsibility of the applicant. To complete this training go to stedi.org, select "Purchase Courses", then select "SubSkills Online Training Package - Purchase Now!" (Basic Option A) option, add to cart, proceed to checkout. The Tomah Area School District will reimburse the cost of the STEDI certification after successfully completing 70 hours as a substitute working in a teacher assignment. Applicant will need to present to the District Administrator''s Office their STEDI Sub Diploma with a passing grade of 85% or higher and receipt of course payment. In addition, your STEDI certificate must be uploaded with your online DPI application. Please contact info@stedi.org with any questions or issues you may have regarding the course or registration.
Requirements: All Substitute Teachers must hold or be able to obtain a valid Wisconsin DPI teaching license or a Three-Year Short-Term Substitute License (formerly Short-Term Substitute Permit).
Once your WECAN application has been submitted and the required supporting documentation (i.e. cover letter, resume, transcript) has been uploaded to your WECAN account, you will be contacted with details of the hiring process, which will include an interview with a building principal and follow-up interview with the District Administrator. If you have a current teaching license, please upload a copy.
