Description

The Superintendent will be responsible for:

  • Coordinate the work of all construction substrates in conjunction with the main office.
  • Arrange, monitor and be present for agency inspections.
  • Read and comprehend the information contained in architectural, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and landscape drawings and specifications.
  • Review shop drawings and other reports prepared by testing and inspection agency. Prepare and monitor RFI's.
  • Prepare daily report forms and progress photographs.
  • Working knowledge familiarity with computer operating systems including Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel; and opening, preparing, scanning, printing, and sending PDF files and other documents.
  • Actively engage design professionals, subcontractors, project managers, and local officials, when needed, to problem solve, mitigate conflicts, and resolve disputes.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly job site; and enforce job site safety standards.
  • Ensure all work complies with AHCA, Joint Commission, FGI Guidelines, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins, and utility interruptions with facility staff to minimize operational impact.
  • Maintain continuous communication with hospital administrators, facility managers, and clinical staff.
  • Track manpower productivity and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Review project schedules and provide field input for schedule updates and recovery plans.
  • Manage punch list completion and oversee project closeout activities.
  • Verify completion of testing, balancing, commissioning, and turnover documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records including daily logs, safety reports, inspections, manpower reports, and project documentation.
  • Lead quality control inspections to ensure work meets healthcare construction standards and owner expectations.
  • Coordinate owner training sessions and turnover of building systems prior to occupancy.
  • Assist in developing site-specific logistics, safety, and infection prevention plans.
  • Ensure secure construction barriers, temporary egress routes, and patient/staff safety measures are maintained at all times.
  • Resolve field conflicts and unforeseen conditions quickly to prevent impacts to project timelines.
  • Mentor assistant superintendents, field engineers, and trade partners to improve project execution.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors, and healthcare facility representatives.
  • Drive project success by maintaining high standards of safety, quality, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.

Profile

The successful superintendent will have:

  • 6+ year's experience in large scale commercial ground-up construction
  • Hospital, MOB, or other Healthcare projects $15M+
  • Self-perform experience preferred
  • Complete understanding of the construction process
  • Must be proficient in reviewing and understanding all construction documents including specifications and drawings
  • Excellent communication skills with various parties including management, subcontractors, consultants, architects, vendors, and clients
  • Self-motivated
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Willing to take on multiple responsibilities and complete a variety of tasks to complete projects on time
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising subcontractors, assistant superintendents, and field personnel.
  • Ability to develop and maintain detailed project schedules and short-interval work plans.
  • Experience coordinating complex MEP systems, utility shutdowns, and hospital tie-ins.
  • Proficiency with construction management software including Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, and Primavera P6.
  • Strong understanding of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and medical gas systems.
  • Ability to identify and resolve field issues proactively while maintaining project momentum.
  • Experience managing project quality control programs and conducting constructability reviews.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to maintaining a safe job site.
  • Demonstrated success leading weekly subcontractor coordination and owner meetings.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and coordinate all construction disciplines including architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
  • Skilled in planning site logistics, material procurement, and workforce management.
  • Experience managing commissioning, testing, balancing, and project turnover activities.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to lead through challenging project conditions.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with healthcare clients, facility directors, inspectors, architects, and engineers.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on quality, safety, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills, including daily logs, progress reports, and schedule updates.
  • Experience mentoring assistant superintendents and developing future field leaders.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment while maintaining accountability for project success.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field is a plus.
  • OSHA 30 certification required or preferred.
