Surgical Medical Assistant Full-Time Position Covers Multiple Locations in Greater Raleigh Area

Were seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Surgical Medical Assistant to join our collaborative care team. In this role, youll support physicians during procedures and play a key part in coordinating surgical workflows, ensuring patients are fully prepared from pre-op through post-visit care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians with set-up for exams and procedures
  • Coordinate and track surgical cases, including posting slips, scheduling, and pre-operative requirements
  • Ensure all pre-op clearances, labs, imaging, and documentation are completed prior to surgery dates
  • Communicate with patients regarding surgical preparation, scheduling, and follow-up care
  • Document patient messages, phone communications, and clinical orders accurately and timely
  • Apply casts and splints; perform wound care, dressing changes, and suture/staple removal under provider direction
  • Provide patient education on post-operative care, wound care, and cast maintenance
  • Prepare and administer injections under provider supervision
  • Order and manage laboratory tests and specimens
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and organized clinical and procedure areas
  • Support prescription refill workflows and document in patient records

Requirements:

  • Medical Assistant certification required
  • 2+ years of clinical experience, preferably in a surgical or orthopaedic setting
  • Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Collaborative team player with excellent communication
  • Experience in applying casts/splints and administering injections preferred
  • Knowledge of electronic medical records systems a plus
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with a sense of urgency
  • Reliable follow-through to support team workflow and deadlines

Compensation:
