40 hours a week. Even during busy season.

I know, not something you hear very often in public accounting.

I'm working with a CPA firm in Cleveland that's managed to make it work. And not just for a year

or two. It's how they operate.

They're a team of around 20 people, so it's the kind of place where everyone knows each other, the partners know what you're working on and you're not just another name on a timesheet.

They're looking for a Tax Manager to join the team, and I think this could be a really nice opportunity for someone who's still passionate about tax but has had enough of the hours that usually come with it.

You'll be managing your own client relationships, reviewing returns, helping develop the more junior members of the team and having a genuine say in how things are done.

And because it's a smaller firm, you won't have to jump through five different layers of management to get something agreed.

A few things I really like about this one:

• 40 hours a week, all year round. Including February, March and April.
• 4 weeks of PTO.
• Hybrid working.
• A small, friendly team of around 20 people.
• Partners who are approachable and genuinely involved.
• A stable, growing firm where there's room to progress.

I think this would really suit someone who's spent the last few years working their way up in public accounting and is starting to wonder whether the 60 hour weeks are actually necessary.

Because let's be fair, you can enjoy your job and still want to get home at a reasonable time.

You don't have to be actively looking either. If you're happy where you are but the idea of a 40 hour busy season has caught your attention, I'd say it's worth finding out a bit more.
