Pay: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year

Location: Torrance, CA. We prefer an in-office presence because collaboration and client service are central to our culture, but hybrid flexibility may be considered for strong candidates.

Note: Candidates must have 5+ years of public accounting tax experience, including 2+ years at the Senior level or equivalent, and must hold an active CPA or EA license. We are looking for someone who can independently manage complex engagements and contribute immediately.

Job Description

• Own a portfolio of client relationships and serve as the primary day-to-day contact on tax and planning matters.
• Lead tax engagements from planning and staffing through review, completion, and delivery.
• Review complex individual, partnership, S corporation, multi-state, and other business tax returns to a Partner-ready standard.
• Identify tax planning opportunities and proactively communicate recommendations to clients.
• Manage engagement timelines, budgets, realization, scope, billing considerations, and overall quality.
• Supervise, mentor, and provide actionable feedback to Tax Staff and Senior team members.
• Serve as a technical resource on complex federal and California tax matters.
• Coordinate directly with Partners, Senior Managers, and Directors on significant client and technical issues.
• Help improve workflow and efficiency through effective use of tax technology, automation, and AI-assisted processes.
• Participate in referral development, networking, client expansion, and other business development activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of public accounting experience focused on tax.
• 2+ years at the Tax Senior level or equivalent.
• Active CPA or EA license required. CPA preferred.
• Strong experience with individual and business taxation, including pass-through entities and complex returns.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage clients and tax engagements.
• Experience reviewing junior staff work and providing coaching and feedback.
• Strong knowledge of tax planning, research, and client advisory services.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field meeting applicable licensing requirements.
• Experience with closely held businesses and high net worth individuals strongly preferred.
• Real estate tax experience is preferred.
• Familiarity with CCH Axcess Tax, CCH Engagement, XCM, Blue J, and advanced Excel is preferred.
• MST or tax-focused MBA is a plus.
