Description of Job

Assist the Property Technician with the daily maintenance and improvement of State

Wildlife Areas in Rio Blanco County. Primary duties will include but are not limited to:

noxious weed control; facility and equipment maintenance; fence repair and construction;

mandatory big game animal checks; operating and maintaining vehicles, trailers, weed

spraying equipment, All Terrain Vehicles (ATV's), Skid steers, excavators, tractors, power

tools, and chainsaws; handling animal carcasses; data recording and record keeping; as

well as interacting with and answering questions from hunters and anglers. This position

will also assist District Wildlife Managers, Biologists, and other Property Technicians with

wildlife management related tasks.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Must be 16 years of age or older

  • Must have a current & valid drivers license or reliable transportation
  • The work-site will provide some uniform items, however the employee may be required to purchase limited uniform items at their own expense.
  • Applicants may be subject to successful completion of a comprehensive background check.
  • Must be willing and able to work 40 hours per week.
  • Must be available to work varied shifts (please provide additional details if known).
  • Preference may be given to applicants with or working towards a Natural Resources degree or similar education
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and work well within a team.
  • Must have ability to hike long distances with a pack
  • Must have ability to accomplish physically demanding tasks
  • Must possess a good attitude
  • Must possess enthusiasm for protecting Colorado's resources
  • Must be willing and able to work outside which may involve inclement weather.
  • Must be able to lift 50-100 pounds repeatedly during the course of a workday.

Pursuant to the DNR-120 Fleet and Driving Standards Administrative Directive, any worker who will be expected to drive a State-owned vehicle is responsible for maintaining a safe driving record and a valid driver license prior to driving any State-owned vehicle.

To be compliant with the new fleet vehicle policy, Motor Vehicle Records (MVRs) will be pulled for review for workers who:

  • Have an assigned State fleet vehicle

  • Are required to operate a vehicle as part of the position

  • Utilize a State fleet vehicle as a pool vehicle
