The Department of Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions in Creighton University's College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning in August 2027. We seek an outstanding teacher-scholar who is committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate education, student-centered learning, and meaningful faculty mentorship.

The successful candidate will teach foundational and advanced undergraduate courses based on departmental needs. Possible teaching assignments include human anatomy and physiology, human pathophysiology, exercise physiology, exercise prescription, nutrition, fitness and wellness, and statistics and research design. Additional responsibilities include mentoring and advising students and providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

The successful candidate will establish and sustain an active, independent research program that complements departmental strengths and provides meaningful opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in study design, data collection, analysis, presentation, and publication. We particularly encourage candidates whose scholarship addresses environmental physiology, thermoregulation, physiological stress responses, military or tactical populations, or related aspects of human performance and adaptation. Candidates using integrative, laboratory-based, or applied human physiology approaches are especially encouraged.

Qualifications

• A Ph.D. in exercise science, physiology, or a closely related field is required by the beginning of the appointment
• Evidence of, or strong potential for, excellence in undergraduate teaching and educational innovation
• Potential to establish an active, independent, and externally visible research program involving undergraduate students
• Ability to foster student learning, development, and decision-making in support of students' goals, success, wellness, and needs
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Empathy and compassion for the experiences of others
