Description

American Traveler is seeking an ICU RN for a Critical Care Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, requiring 2+ years of ICU experience and ventilator management skills.

Details

  • Critical Care Float Pool position within an academic teaching hospital
  • Floats to a variety of ICUs based on staffing and patient acuity, including Neuro ICU, Surgical ICUs, Medical ICUs (MICU x2), Cardiology/Diagnostics, CVICU, SICU, and NCCU
  • Floating is limited to units of equivalent or lower acuity
  • Night shift schedule: 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, totaling 36 hours per week
  • Weekend night coverage required (Friday and Saturday) plus one additional night shift
  • Uses EPIC EMR system

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Ohio or Compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Proficiency with EPIC EMR required
  • IV start, telemetry, and ventilator management experience required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • 2 professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable as second reference; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing across multiple ICU specialties as staffing and acuity needs arise
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial and central line management, PICC line care, and blood product administration
  • Experience with ventilator management, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and airway suctioning
  • Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips, continuous IV sedation, and emergency medications
  • Familiarity with neurological monitoring including EVD, ICP monitoring, and CVA/stroke management is a plus
  • Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, 12-lead EKG acquisition, and IV insulin protocols
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees eligible to apply for travel assignments after 6+ months away from the facility
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible for travel assignments at this facility
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
