Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active Ohio or compact RN license and at least 1 year of acute care experience.

Details

  • Medical Surgical unit within a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
  • Schedule includes weekdays and some weekends
  • Uses EPIC EMR for charting
  • May be required to float to lower acuity units as needed

Requirements

  • Active Ohio RN license or compact license required in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required
  • IV certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required, with strong acute care background preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and multitasking skills required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Experience with respiratory care, chest tubes (Emerson/PleurEvac), nasal cannula, and oxygen administration
  • Cardiac monitoring experience including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
  • Experience with Rapid Response/Code team protocols
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Experience in neurological/psychiatric care and substance withdrawal management

Additional Information

  • Responsibilities include starting and managing IVs, administering medications safely, monitoring vital signs and patient responses, and educating patients on treatments and self-care
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team on patient care plans
  • Follow all hospital policies to maintain patient safety
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager, Director, or Supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are not eligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
  • Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after contract signing; candidates within driving distance must complete this in person, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
  • First-time travelers may be considered for this position
