Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department (Onc Pod) position requiring 2+ years of ED experience and 1 year of travel experience.

Details

  • Work in the Oncology Pod of a hospital's Emergency Department
  • General ED serving combined adult/pediatric patients within a Level I Trauma, STEMI, and Stroke certified facility
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:30
  • Floating required
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and PALS
  • Minimum of 2 years of ED experience required
  • Minimum of 1 year of travel nursing experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficient in IV starts and telemetry monitoring
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and 12-lead EKG/ECG acquisition
  • Experience with triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and pediatric patient care
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or Supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide emergency nursing care within the Oncology Pod of the ED
  • Responsible for administering emergency medications including IV vasopressors and blood products
  • Care for patients requiring central line management, ABG interpretation, and ventilator support
  • Skilled in respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP management
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon signing their contract due to strict compliance timelines
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract at time of application, limited to 7 consecutive days or less for a 14-week contract
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at this facility
  • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position due to the required travel experience
