Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring 2 years of PCU/ICU experience and frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units.

Details

  • Stepdown/PCU unit with 21 beds in a hospital setting
  • Frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units
  • Patient ratios: Stepdown 1:4-5, ICU 1:2, MedSurg 1:5-6
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00-7:00
  • Care for cardiac, vascular, neuro, and renal patient populations including NSTEMI, post cardiac cath, CVA, and CIWA/substance withdrawal patients
  • Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
  • Cares for patients on peritoneal dialysis, stable BiPAP, heated high-flow (<80%), and home ventilators (Trilogy)
  • Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments
  • Hemodialysis performed in the Dialysis Department
  • Uses Meditech EMR
  • Floating required across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Weekly orientation held every Wednesday

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown/ICU experience required
  • ICU experience required in addition to PCU experience due to floating requirements
  • Meditech charting experience preferred
  • Comfort with vascular care including fem-pop and CEA cases
  • Comfort managing patients post cardiac catheterization with intervention
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the travel rate
  • Must be comfortable with frequent floating between Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
  • Royal blue and white scrubs required
  • Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
  • Previous employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be considered
  • Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
  • RTO must be approved prior to assignment start
