Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring 2+ years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and prior travel experience.

Details

  • Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital with 8 labor rooms and 4 triage rooms
  • Facility averages 200-300 births per month at a teaching hospital
  • Care for patients with labor and preterm labor diagnoses, including high risk antepartum and high risk deliveries
  • Responsibilities include circulating, OB-GYN, post-op, pre-op, and scrub duties
  • Provide couplet care, low risk antepartum care, and transition nursery support
  • Staffing ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:3
  • Perform special procedures including blood/blood product administration, cardioversion/defibrillation, cooling/warming blanket use, and wound vac care
  • Manage epidural pumps, PCA pumps, syringe pumps, and drains
  • Administer heparin, insulin, and magnesium sulfate therapies
  • Night shift schedule with 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Floating required to Post-Partum and NICU based on skill set
  • May be expected to float between sister facilities near the contracted location

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Required certifications: BLS, FHM, NRP, and AWHONN Intermediate
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood and blood product administration, central line maintenance (CVC/PICC), and medication administration
  • Experience with anticoagulation therapy, antihypertensives, insulin drips, and magnesium sulfate therapy required
  • Labor and delivery management skills required, including assisting with high risk deliveries, circulating and recovering C-sections, and performing sterile vaginal exams
  • Pain management experience required, including epidural anesthesia, pain assessment, and use of IV PCA
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE, antepartum care, obstetrical triage, fetal monitoring, and IUPC placement/calibration required
  • Postpartum care, wound assessment, and wound care experience required
  • Two supervisory references required, covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting

Additional Information

  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates must live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a traveler
  • Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 3 months before returning as a traveler
  • Candidates must disclose any prior work history at a Providence facility as permanent staff, traveler, or per-diem/registry, including location and dates
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day
  • All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; requests made after offer may not be granted
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
