Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-risk Labor and Delivery position requiring 3+ years of high acuity experience and circulating/newborn care skills.

Details

  • Hospital-based Labor and Delivery unit with 31 rooms/beds
  • High risk, high volume L&D unit with 4 ORs
  • Patient population includes midwifery clients, private OB patients, adult recovery services for substance recovery, and community care clinic patients
  • Average daily census of 15 patients with 500-600 deliveries per month
  • Patient ratio of 1:1-2
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • Schedule posted every 6 weeks based on unit needs
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays as needed
  • Float required to Post Partum/Antepartum units and may float to sister facilities with Mother/Baby units
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Uses electronic fetal monitoring equipment

Requirements

  • Active WA or compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
  • BLS and NRP certification required
  • ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, and AWHONN Intermediate certifications preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in high acuity, high pace environment required
  • High risk L&D experience required
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Must have circulating skills for C-section
  • Must be able to function as Baby Nurse and provide continued newborn care until transfer to post partum
  • Must have newborn care skills including eye care, Vitamin K injections, thigh injections, and newborn assessments
  • Experience with high-risk delivery, hemorrhage/shock management, and vaginal delivery assistance required
  • Experience with medication administration including Heparin, Insulin drips, and Magnesium Sulfate therapy required

Additional Information

  • Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum services
  • Perform newborn assessments, APGAR scoring, and neonatal resuscitation as needed
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction support
  • Manage pain relief modalities including epidural anesthesia and other pain management techniques
  • Provide postpartum care including couplet care, breastfeeding support, and wound assessment
  • Perform triage of obstetrical patients
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Staffing follows AWHONN guidelines
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless applying as a local candidate
  • Must commit to working 3 of 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • Time off requests must be submitted upfront during the application process
  • Former permanent employees of other Providence facilities (non-Swedish) are eligible after a 3-month separation period
  • Two supervisory references required covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty setting
