Description

American Traveler is hiring a RN for a Med/Surg Tele position on night shift, requiring 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details

  • Hospital setting with 207 licensed beds, designated as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center
  • Will be assigned a home unit on the first day of orientation, which may include ADTU, 7North/South Ortho Surgical, 6S Medical Telemetry, 5N Surgical Telemetry, 4N Cardiac Medical Telemetry, 3N Medical Telemetry, or 2N Medical
  • Patient populations vary by unit and include CHF, COPD, stroke, cardiac arrhythmias, ESRD, ortho surgical (joint replacements, spinal surgery), GI issues, and behavioral health
  • RN patient ratio of 1:5-6, with critical surge ratios up to 1:7-8
  • CNA patient ratio of 1:6-12
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Weekend rotation required every other weekend
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required to other units and facilities within the assigned region, based on scope of practice
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Ortho experience and spinal precautions knowledge required for 7North/South Ortho Surgical unit
  • General Med/Tele skills required, including stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management
  • Experience with medication drip management, including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and IVF
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg Tele unit, supporting a variety of patient diagnoses and acuity levels
  • Support team includes CNAs, receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, resource nurse (as staffing allows), respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), and intensivist coverage
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Holiday coverage required for 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; missed contracted hours must be added to the end of the contract
  • Schedule operates on a 6-week cycle
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available
  • First-time travelers not preferred but will be considered
  • Traveler's permanent address must be at least 50 miles outside of the home unit
  • Local candidates are not accepted due to the radius rule
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position before returning
