Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position working nights with at least 2 years of experience and telemetry skills preferred.

Details

• Work setting is a medical surgical unit within an acute care hospital environment
• Patient ratio is 1:7 on the Med/Surg unit
• Night shift position working 4x12-hour shifts (18:30–07:00)
• Schedule options include 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48 configurations
• Rotating weekend requirement with no on-call responsibilities
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Telemetry experience preferred, with on-unit and remote monitoring capabilities a plus

Requirements

• Active TN or Compact RN license required and must be in hand at time of consideration
• AHA BLS required; AHA ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• At least 1 year of PCU experience documented within the past 2 years (hard requirement)
• Strong IV therapy skills required, including central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
• Ability to manage respiratory interventions including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and non-invasive airway management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
• Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC fit testing guidelines
• Candidates must be available to complete a drug test 12–14 calendar days prior to start and willing to return for a repeat if needed

Additional Information

• First-time travelers are welcome to apply; Level I trauma facility experience is preferred for first-time travelers
• Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Orientation begins on Sundays and includes online computer-based learning (CBL) modules averaging 4–5 hours
• Contract nurses are expected to actively support nursing student clinical education alongside their standard patient care responsibilities
• Trauma Level I and teaching hospital experience preferred
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration
• Only AHA-issued certifications are accepted
