Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring at least 2 years of experience, including MS/Tele background, working night shifts on a 4x12 schedule with every other weekend requirement.
Details
- Medical/Surgical unit in a hospital setting
- Night shift schedule: 4x12 hours, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
- Schedule options available: 36/36, 36/48, or 48/48
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required
- Epic EMR (preferred)
- MS/Tele and standard Med/Surg patient populations
Requirements
- Active TN or Compact RN license currently in hand
- Current AHA BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- MS/Tele and Med/Surg experience required
- AHA-issued certifications only accepted
- Two supervisor references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
- Candidates must be willing to complete a drug test within 12–14 calendar days prior to start and be available for a repeat test if needed
- Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
Additional Information
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Orientation begins on Sundays via online computer-based learning (CBLs); modules average 4–5 hours and are completed during orientation
- Travelers are expected to actively support nursing student clinical education alongside their regular patient care duties
- Preferred skills include: IV therapy, phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, PICC line management, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, CVA care, heparin/insulin/PCA administration, telemetry remote monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, wound care/wound vac, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Facial hair must be trimmed or removed to meet CDC guidelines for fit testing; refusal may result in cancellation
- RTO requests must be submitted at time of consideration
- Scrubs or dress code requirements follow facility standards (isolation precautions and PPE compliance expected)
