Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg-Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring active NY licensure, 1 year of MS/Tele experience, and mandatory phlebotomy and IV placement skills.
Details
- MS/Tele unit within a hospital setting
- Patient population includes orthopedic trauma, total joint replacement, and general medical-surgical patients with diagnoses such as osteoarthritis and fractures
- Day/evening ratios are 5:1 (stretch 6-7:1); night ratios are 6-7:1 (stretch up to 8-10:1 during call-ins)
- PCTs are available on all units to support vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
- Night shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend (EOW) requirement
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within scope to like units based on facility needs
- Facility will attempt to accommodate block scheduling but cannot guarantee it
- Charting completed in Epic
Requirements
- Active NY RN license required in hand
- Current BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele nursing experience required
- Mandatory competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement
- Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, blood product administration, peripheral line care, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), PCA management, chest tube care (Emerson/Pleur-evac), external CPAP/BiPAP, high flow nasal cannula, tracheostomy management, and wound care/wound vac
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
Additional Information
- Provide direct patient care to orthopedic trauma and medical-surgical telemetry patients, including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Scrub colors limited to any combination of navy and white
- Maximum RTO of 1 week permitted during the contract
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Previous employees may only return after a 6-month systemwide separation period
