Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele night shift position requiring active NY licensure and phlebotomy/IV competency.

Details

• Work in the Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit of a cardiac hospital environment
• Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Day/evening ratios are 5:1 with stretch to 6-7:1
• Night ratios are typically 6-7:1 with stretch to 8-10:1 during call-ins
• PCTs available on all units to assist with vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and ADLs
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs and between similar units
• Block scheduling accommodation attempted but not guaranteed

Requirements

• Active NY RN license required in hand
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 1 year of MS/Tele nursing experience required
• Competency with phlebotomy and IV placement required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Peripheral line care and management experience
• Experience with nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, and portable oxygen tank use
• Non-invasive airway management skills required
• Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
• Epic charting experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide medical/surgical telemetry nursing care to a cardiac patient population
• Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered for the travel rate
• Maximum of 1 week RTO allowed during the contract
• Returning staff must have at least a 6-month break since last assignment, system-wide
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Scrub attire must be any combination of navy and white
