Description

Job Title: Emergency Room Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Variable shift, heavy evenings and overnights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years, including 1 year in a trauma center License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC, NIHSS Must-Have: Must have 2 or more years of emergency room experience. Must have 1 or more years of trauma experience. Must have prior travel experience. Must be comfortable providing culturally competent care to a diverse patient population. Description: Unit does not accept candidates with license hits involving medication diversion or endangerment. Available start dates are August 31, September 14, and September 28, 2026. Guaranteed hours are 36 hours per week. Cancellation policy permits one shift cancellation every two weeks. Requests for time off up to 10 days can be made without approval for clinical prescreening. Anything exceeding this amount or involving holidays requires hospital approval. Nurses will manage their own holds if they are long holds, assisted by RNs from other units as needed. There are separate complexes for triage and psych/seclusion rooms. Daily patient volume is approximately 250. The ratio for main emergency department is 4:1, 5:1 for accelerated care, and 2:1 for critical care. Joint Commission standards are met for all required certifications and common diagnoses include STEMI, stroke, DKA, sepsis, trauma, respiratory diseases, and behavioral health. Registered Nurses are responsible for drawing ABGs and setting up small dose breathing treatments. All relevant technical medical equipment is readily available, and transport personnel assist with critical patient transport. The dress code is royal blue for nursing staff. Weekend and holiday coverage is mandatory, with no call or standby requirement. Unit-specific orientation occurs on the first day, with additional bedside training for a few shifts. Numerous outdoor activities and attractions are available nearby, including parks, hiking trails, and various entertainment options.
