Labor & Delivery / Postpartum Registered Nurse
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse for a 13-week travel assignment in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum at a facility in Hilo, Hawaii. This role is crucial for providing comprehensive care to expectant mothers, during delivery, and throughout their immediate postpartum recovery, as well as ensuring the well-being of newborns.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic team in a unit equipped with 8 Labor Beds and 18 Postpartum Beds, contributing to a supportive environment for both patients and staff. This position offers an opportunity to utilize advanced clinical skills in a beautiful island setting, focusing on high-quality maternal and infant care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for laboring mothers, monitoring progress and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Assist physicians and healthcare teams during the delivery process.
- Administer immediate post-delivery care to newborns, including assessments and stabilization.
- Deliver compassionate and effective postpartum care to mothers, addressing physical and emotional needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of recent, acute care experience in Labor & Delivery.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Preferred Qualifications
- STABLE Certification.
- Advanced Fetal Monitoring Certification.
Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in Labor & Delivery nursing practices.
- Competency in immediate newborn care and assessment.
- Expertise in postpartum maternal care.
- Experience with computerized charting systems, specifically Meditech.
- Familiarity with fetal monitoring systems, specifically GE/Centricity.
Shift Details
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks
- Start Date: 2026-09-14
- Shift Type: Primarily 12-hour NOC (Night) shifts.
- Hours Per Week: 36 hours, following an initial orientation period.
- Call Requirements: Scheduled 12-hour call at least once per month.
- Weekend Rotation: Not specified.
- Shift Preference: While the contract specifies NOC, shifts may be variable (Day and Night) based on unit needs, with no guarantee of specific shift preference.
Licensing Requirements
- Active Hawaii Registered Nurse (RN) license by the start of the assignment. Candidates without a current Hawaii license must apply upon acceptance of the offer.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
