Job Summary:
Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) specialty position located in Texas. The role involves providing specialized care within a busy ICU setting, with a focus on adult and geriatric patient populations. The position entails working a schedule of three 12-hour day shifts and requires a dedicated and skilled healthcare professional to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Days, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Certifications in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support). Valid state or compact license must be in hand at the time of submittal. No experience minimum specified; 2 years of experience preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital background, and travel experience preferred.
  • Patient Ratios: 2 patients per nurse during days, nights, and weekends.
  • Charting System: Epic.
  • Schedule: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Managing ports, administering chemotherapy, arterial line management, chest tube insertion/removal, ventilator management, central line care, neurologic assessments, infection prevention, arterial blood gas interpretation, dysrhythmia management, neuro ICU procedures, and more.
  • Unit Details: Supports adult and geriatric patients, daily census of approximately 14, with 12 rooms and 16 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, radiology, rapid response teams, and pharmacy.
  • Travel and Compliance: Must possess valid state or compact license; travelers residing in specified counties are not contracted. Onboarding requires completion of core items/labs within 48 hours of contract signing, with onsite modules during orientation.
