Job Summary:
Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) in Springfield, Illinois. This position involves providing high-quality patient care within a fast-paced unit that handles a broad spectrum of diagnoses, including trauma, neurological, cardiovascular, and orthopedic cases. The RN will work a 12-hour day shift, with a schedule of three rotations per week, and will be expected to float within scope to meet hospital needs.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, three days per week, minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid Illinois nursing license, at least 1 year of recent experience in telemetry, neuro stepdown, or similar units; certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and NIH stroke scale (NIHSS); experience in interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of cardiac and neurological patients, and use of rapid response teams; proficiency in managing ventilated patients, IV therapy, arterial lines, and post-cardiac procedures.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in a Level I trauma center and Cerner charting system familiarity; transplant or neuro ICU experience preferred.
- Additional Information: The unit is a very fast-paced, high throughput environment with approximately 34 adult patients daily. Candidates should be comfortable with tracheostomy management, ventilators, and multiple invasive lines. Floating within the hospital is required, and the unit employs interdisciplinary support, including respiratory, physical therapy, and social services. Orientation includes 24 hours of virtual training.
