Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care in a PCU / IMC / Med-Surg setting with an average census of 8 patients across a 12-bed unit with 4 additional ICU rooms
  • Titrate drips including Amiodarone, Heparin, Levo, Cardizem, Dobutamine, and other pressors as appropriate to patient acuity level
  • Read and interpret telemetry strips independently; unit utilizes remote tele monitoring
  • Practice team nursing in collaboration with LPN staff, managing a combined patient load as assigned
  • May be asked to step into a Charge Nurse role on occasion; travelers are expected to be flexible in filling scheduling gaps
  • Float to other areas such as the ED for tasking or to hold patients as an alternative to low-census call situations
Required Qualifications
  • Active RN license with a minimum of 1 year of PCU or prior ICU experience (Med-Surg Tele experience alone is not sufficient)
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
  • Proficiency with Cerner electronic health record system
  • Ability to titrate drips and manage higher-acuity IMC and ICU-level patients
  • Willingness to work every 3rd weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday) and 2 out of 3 holidays
  • Ability to be on-call for low-census standby with a 45-minute response time when required
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Prior travel nursing experience welcomed; first-time travelers will be considered
  • Travel duos are accepted
  • Willingness to float to the ED reduces likelihood of low-census call assignments
