Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years with 1 year of direct Medical-Surgical experience required. Traveler must have at least 2 successful contracts before applying. License: NC or Compact license is acceptable. Certifications: BCLS, NIH, NIHSS required. ACLS is preferred but not required. Must-Have: Med/Surg experience is essential. IV Start and Telemetry skills are required. Competence in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias is necessary. Description: RTO after booking is not allowed and cannot be addressed onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO could possibly result in cancellation. Unit primarily cares for stroke patients along with neurosurgery patients and other neuro diagnoses. Patient diagnoses include, but are not limited to, epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and more. The unit has a 4-bed Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU). Trained nurses may be required for the EMU section but this typically does not affect travelers. The daily census averages 42. Travelers may be required to float to other Medical-Surgical and Telemetry areas, including COVID care units. Every other weekend work is mandatory. RTO that includes weekends will result in making up for those days at the end of the contract. All travelers are expected to work frequent weekends as needed by unit demands. If a traveler calls out of a scheduled shift, they are expected to make up the shift within the week or at the contract's conclusion. Unit ratios will be 1:6. Floating is required within the facility based on staffing needs. Patient care team includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation. Travelers may not request additional RTO post-signing. Compliance with the floating requirement is mandatory, and candidates should be prepared for potential floating within the facility. All new hires must complete EKG testing before starting at this specialty. General expectations include adherence to guidelines for RTO, work schedules, and floating policy.
