    Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

    Schedule / Job Type

    Contract (13 or 26 week options available) | Full-Time | Onsite | Day Shift (3x12 Hours, 7:00–19:00) | 36 or 48 hour weekly options available

    Key Responsibilities
    • Provide direct patient care on a general medical surgical and telemetry unit serving patients with conditions including total knee and hip replacements, complicated orthopedic cases, pulmonary, sepsis, GI, endocrine, cardiac, renal, and psychiatric illnesses
    • Manage and monitor IV drips, which are required on all floors
    • Care for patients with underlying behavioral health conditions, including detox and dementia populations, on a secured floor; utilize safety and de-escalation techniques as trained
    • Maintain patient ratios of 1:5 on days and 1:6 on nights, with the understanding that night ratios may occasionally reach 1:7
    • Float frequently to other units and campuses within scope of practice to meet facility staffing needs
    • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team including CNAs, care techs, transport team, swoop/paramedics, and LPNs where assigned
    Required Qualifications
    • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (pending Nebraska RN state license accepted; if license is not in hand at time of submission, start date will be booked six weeks out)
    • Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
    • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records charting required
    • Ability and willingness to float to multiple units and campuses within scope of practice
    • Comfort caring for behavioral health patient populations, including patients flagged as potentially violent
    Preferred Experience / Skills
    • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
    • Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification preferred
    • Experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center (may be considered in lieu of standard first-timer restrictions)
