Opportunity:

RN - PCU

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts
• Every 3rd weekend required: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• 2 out of 3 holidays required
• On-call/standby requirement with 45-minute response time on a rotating basis
• Floating may be required - options include floating to the ED for tasking or holding patients, or going home and losing hours
• Scrub color: Any solid color
• Unit orientation includes 4 hours of CBT and 8 hours of floor training
• Self-scheduling with a scheduler to help fill gaps in permanent staffing; block scheduling considered but not guaranteed
• Travelers are asked to be flexible with scheduling
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: ICU 1:3, IMC/PCU 1:3-4, Med Surg 1:5; team nursing with RN and LPN covering up to 7 patients total; 2 RNs in department at all times
• Must have a minimum of 1 year of PCU experience (MS-Tele experience not appropriate) or prior ICU experience
• Must have Cerner experience for charting
• RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting telemetry strips independently (remote monitoring from Eau Claire)
• RNs required to titrate drips including Amiodarone, Heparin, Levo, Cardizem, Dobutamine, and pressors
• Travelers may be asked to step into a charge nurse role
• Will accept travel duos and first-time travelers
• Required certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA)

Facility:

This acute care facility operates a PCU/IMC/Med Surg unit with 12 beds plus 4 ICU rooms, maintaining an average census of 8 patients. The unit commonly treats patients with pneumonia, post-operative knee and hip procedures, and fall-related injuries. The facility utilizes Cerner as its charting system, features remote telemetry monitoring, and is supported by CNAs, a charge nurse, and a house supervisor who also covers the emergency department. The facility is designated as a Trauma Level 4 care setting.
