Job Title: RN - Psych Profession: RN Specialty: Psych Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years in Psych nursing License: Required licensure Certifications: BLS, CPI Must-Have: Strong interpersonal skills and experience with de-escalation techniques Description: RN needed for a Behavioral Health setting. Provide patient care to psychiatric patients as directed by an RN. Participate in established treatment plans within a team environment. Develop therapeutic relationships with patients and family members. Common patient diagnoses include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, and suicidal ideation. Patient ratios are RN to patient 1:6 and MHT to patient 1:12. Demonstrate the ability to handle moderate to high stress levels effectively. Experience with physical restraints, medication administration, and documentation is required. Opportunity to run patient groups is available but not mandatory. May care for postpartum patients with underlying psychiatric conditions. The unit is open and treats a variety of psychiatric disorders. Support staff includes CNAs and MHTs. Technology includes EMR systems and medication dispensing systems. Collaboration with rapid response teams, hospitalists, and intensivists is essential.
