Provide routine and complex nursing care for cardiac and telemetry patients utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments.
Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice.
Document patient history, symptoms, medications administered, and care provided accurately and thoroughly.
Assess patient and family learning needs; provide education and identify appropriate resources.
Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to effectively manage the clinical situation.
Required Qualifications
Active RN license in state of employment or valid compact license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in a telemetry or related nursing specialty.
Ability to work every other weekend as part of the weekend and on-call requirement.
Preferred Experience / Skills
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Prior experience in a cardiac or telemetry unit (non-stepdown setting) strongly preferred.
Familiarity with a nurse-to-patient ratio environment of 5:1 to 6:1.
