Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Observation Unit night shift position requiring Level 1 Trauma and Epic charting experience.

Details

  • Work in the Medical Observation Unit of a Level 1 Trauma hospital
  • Night shift schedule from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
  • 36 hours per week across three 12-hour shifts
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Six weekend shifts required per six-week schedule
  • Holiday coverage required every other holiday
  • Floating required to similar units
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • IV site assessments required every 4 hours per unit protocol

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience
  • Level 1 Trauma center experience required
  • Epic charting experience required
  • ASN required, BSN preferred
  • Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Basic computer proficiency including word processing, spreadsheets, email, and web browsing
  • Multicultural sensitivity required

Additional Information

  • Serve as primary caregiver for an assigned group of patients, utilizing the nursing process to plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care
  • Complete initial patient assessments and develop care plans based on patient and family needs
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation to support care coordination among the healthcare team
  • Identify and respond to changes in patient status
  • Start new IVs in accordance with facility policy
  • Maintain documentation standards as evidenced by passed quarterly chart audits
  • Attend at least 5 of 6 staff meetings annually
  • Report and correct safety hazards affecting patients and staff
  • Provide constructive feedback to peers and engage in ongoing professional development
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • RTO limited to no more than 7 total days during the 13-week contract
  • Contingent workers may not remain continuously on assignment at this health system for more than 1 year without a required 6-month break in service
