Description

American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring 2+ years of recent progressive care experience and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 32-bed Mixed Acuity Stepdown/PCU unit with an average daily census of 25-32 patients
  • Care for patients with various medical diagnoses as well as pre- and post-surgical patients with mixed acuity requiring PCU-level care
  • Rotating shifts scheduled 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • 36 hours per week with every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the OSU organization as needed
  • Call required
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of recent progressive care experience required
  • Experience with similar PCU/Stepdown patient populations required
  • Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Preferred experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response/code teams, IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, wound care, and pre/post-surgical patient care
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second acceptable from a Charge RN; no coworker references accepted

Additional Information

  • Provide progressive/stepdown level care to a mixed acuity patient population including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
  • Responsibilities may include IV therapy, blood product administration, central line and PICC care, heparin protocols, respiratory support, and wound care
  • Scrub color and details will be provided at orientation
  • Teaching hospital environment
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • One pre-approved time-off request allowed per contract, limited to 7 days or less and must be built into the contract at time of consideration
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
  • Ohio fingerprinting is required promptly after signing the contract to avoid credentialing delays
