Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring cardiac drip and critical care monitoring skills with night shift availability.

Details

• Progressive Care Unit with 34 beds (630) and 25 beds (633)
• Patient ratios of 1:4 to 1:5 on days and 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
• Unit supported by 3 techs on 630 and 2 techs on 633 when fully staffed
• Utilizes bipaps, high flow O2, vapotherm, Alaris pumps, cardiac drips, heparin drips, insulin drips, and peritoneal dialysis equipment
• Wound vac troubleshooting performed in conjunction with wound care team
• Documentation completed in Meditech
• Night shift schedule, 7:00PM-7:00AM, three 12-hour shifts per week
• Every other weekend required per contract
• Self-scheduling available on a 4-week basis
• May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors

Requirements

• Active RN license, TN or compact, required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EKG rhythm interpretation skills required
• Experience with cardiac drips, insulin drips, and heparin drips required
• Peripheral IV skills required
• Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
• Experience with bipaps, high flow O2, and multiple oxygen delivery systems
• Experience with stroke and post cardiac cath care preferred
• Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tube management preferred
• US SSN and DOB required for consideration
• One professional reference required

Additional Information

• Perform hourly rounding on days and every 2 hour rounding on nights
• Utilize AIDET communication standards and maintain communication boards
• Procedures performed on unit include peritoneal dialysis, thoracentesis, paracentesis, chest tube insertions, Dobhoff/NG tube insertions, and central line dressing changes
• Techs assist with patient care across the unit
• Strong team-oriented, family-like unit culture
• Most travelers extend their assignment after their first contract on this unit
• Black scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 50 mile radius of the facility, no local candidates accepted
