Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Float Pool position requiring PICU and NICU experience and a VA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Peds Float Pool position at a teaching hospital, floating among PICU, NICU, peds med-surg, peds PACU, peds ED boarders, and postpartum/mother-baby units
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
  • 36 or 48 hours per week with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • 13-week assignment with block scheduling not guaranteed
  • Uses Epic EMR
  • Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice

Requirements

  • Active VA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
  • Must be comfortable with NICU, acute pediatrics, and pediatric ED patient populations
  • Previous NICU/PICU float pool experience considered in lieu of standalone travel experience
  • Required certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, and PALS
  • Infant-Driven Feeding Certificate required (may submit with certification pending)
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience required
  • BSN preferred
  • Peds PACU experience highly preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across multiple pediatric units as part of a float pool team
  • Responsibilities may include respiratory care, IV therapy, renal care, and management of complex pediatric conditions depending on unit assignment
  • Specialty-specific modules completed during orientation, recorded in Workday
  • Maximum 40 hours of RTO allowed per 13-week contract; no additional RTO approved after offer acceptance
  • No RTO approved during the first two weeks of the assignment
  • Any planned time off between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
  • Previous UVA Health employees (permanent staff or travelers) must have a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning
  • External travelers may not exceed 365 total assignment days at this facility
  • First-time travelers may be considered if they have prior NICU/PICU float pool experience
