Opportunity:

RN - Stepdown/MedSurg

Job Details:

• 12-hour night shifts with weekend and holiday requirements as scheduled
• Weekend positions required for agency RN placements
• Expected to work approximately half of all recognized holidays
• No call or standby requirement
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 3:1 for step-down and 6:1 for floor patients
• Flex unit serving both floor and step-down patients based on patient and hospital needs
• Diverse patient population with primarily medical diagnoses
• Must be able to manage 6 patients (med-surg) or 3 patients (step-down)
• EPIC experience required; charting system is EPIC
• Charge nurse experience requested as RNs may be asked to work in charge role
• RNs will have orders written to titrate drips including heparin, insulin, anti-hypertensives, antiarrhythmics, phenobarbital, ketamine, morphine/dilaudid/fentanyl PCAs, and TPN
• Will encounter CPAP and BiPAP on floor and step-down; HiFlow and vents in step-down (patients requiring vent setting adjustments transferred to ICU)
• Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment used; remote telemetry surveillance center available with RNs not required to read their own strips
• Clinical Associates (nurse aides) available with a goal of 3 CAs at all times (1:10 ratio)
• First to float or be pulled to other floor or step-down units
• Scrub color: any combination of royal blue and white
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• BSN not required
• Cancellation policy: 2 shifts per 13-week assignment; 1 shift for assignments less than 13 weeks

Facility:

This acute care facility features a 29-bed flex unit currently under construction, with all beds set to be step-down equipped upon opening in the first quarter of 2026. The unit is supported by charge RNs and House Supervisors available 24/7, with a goal of maintaining a free charge RN at all times. The facility utilizes a remote telemetry surveillance center and central monitoring, along with Phillips telemetry monitoring equipment, to ensure comprehensive patient oversight and high-quality care.
