Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit position requiring 2 years of cardiac telemetry experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work on a 36-private-room cardiac telemetry unit (5 North) within a hospital setting
• Care for patients ranging from young adults to geriatric populations
• Priority admissions include patients recovering from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implants
• Also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• BLS certification required; ACLS and NIHSS certification required (NIHSS preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, and sheath removal
• Experience managing heparin protocols and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac management
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
• Pre/post hemodialysis management and renal failure care experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring, medication management, and post-procedural care
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted for this position
• Candidates residing in Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, or Morris counties will not be considered
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted for this position
• Former staff must wait at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of consideration; no more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Core onboarding items and labs must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• First-time travelers may be considered based on position details
