Overview:
The Bonadio Group is seeking an experienced trust and estate tax professional to help expand our fiduciary, estate, and gift tax services. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to trustees, executors, beneficiaries, high-net-worth individuals, families, and their professional advisors. The role combines hands-on leadership of complex compliance engagements with proactive planning, technical consultation, team development, and process improvement. The successful candidate will strengthen delivery capacity while helping shape an integrated Private Wealth tax offering over time.
Responsibilities:
- Manage or lead complex fiduciary income tax, estate tax, gift tax, and related individual tax compliance engagements, including technical review and timely delivery.
- Advise trustees, executors, beneficiaries, and families on fiduciary income taxation, estate and gift tax matters, wealth-transfer strategies, estate administration considerations, and related planning opportunities.
- Analyze trust agreements and related legal documents to determine tax reporting requirements, planning opportunities, and implications associated with complex trust structures and multistate fiduciary matters.
- Research and resolve complex federal and multistate fiduciary, estate, gift, charitable, private foundation, and individual tax matters and communicate conclusions clearly to clients and engagement teams.
- Coordinate with attorneys, financial advisors, trust companies, family office professionals, and other advisors to support a comprehensive client experience and integrated wealth planning strategies.
- Oversee engagement scope, staffing, workflow, budgets, billing, risk management, and filing deadlines.
- Mentor and develop professionals through technical review, coaching, training, and meaningful delegation.
- Identify opportunities to standardize processes, improve workflow, and use technology and automation to strengthen quality and capacity.
- Collaborate across service lines to deliver integrated solutions that address clients' personal, family, business, wealth-transfer, charitable, and succession-planning objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- A minimum bachelor's degree in taxation, accounting, law, or a related field
- Active CPA license, JD, or EA
- A minimum of five years of progressive public accounting or equivalent tax experience
- Experience preparing and reviewing fiduciary income tax returns and related trust and estate tax compliance, including exposure to estate administration, wealth-transfer planning, or complex trust structures
- Strong technical knowledge of fiduciary income, estate, gift, and individual taxation, including experience or exposure to multistate fiduciary issues and nonresident trust considerations
- Experience managing complex engagements, multiple priorities, and client relationships in a collaborative, fast paced environment
- Experience supervising, reviewing, and developing professional staff
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to explain complex matters clearly
- Proficiency with tax software and Microsoft Office applications
The salary range for this position is between $100,000 and $125,000 and commensurate with experience
Hours of Operation:
- Our standard office hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
- Our summer hours are from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with Flex Friday scheduling available in accordance with firm policy and business needs.
- We pride ourselves on our flexibility; however, the ability to work additional hours will be needed at peak times.
