    Job Description

    The Kevin T Crofton Department of Aerospace and Ocean Engineering is seeking a self-motivated professional to serve as our Undergraduate Academic Advisor. This position supports students in navigating academic programs, degree requirements, and university policies while promoting student success, retention, and timely degree completion. The advisor collaborates closely with faculty, academic departments, and campus partners to support student development, career readiness, and engagement in high-impact educational experiences.

    In addition to advising responsibilities, the position will provide academic program support on matters relating to undergraduate program operations. Responsibilities will include academic scheduling and curriculum-related processes, supporting departmental outreach and recruitment, maintaining advising resources, and contributing to other operational activities that enhance the advising office's effectiveness.

    This is a hybrid position with regular on-campus and remote work. The position requires an on-campus presence to support student advising, meetings, and departmental activities.

    Required Qualifications

    -Master's degree in relevant field or bachelor's degree with significant related experience.
    -Experience providing academic support to undergraduate students
    -Demonstrated experience coordinating multiple projects, activities, or administrative functions simultaneously while meeting established deadlines and maintaining accurate documentation.
    -Demonstrated experience communicating policies, procedures, instructions, and other information effectively to diverse constituents, including students, faculty, and staff.
    -Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other common applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and email

    Preferred Qualifications

    -Experience in academic advising and knowledge of policies and procedures
    -Experience working with Virginia Tech academic policies
    -Experience using large relational databases, such as Banner
